This is a Tolkien landscape if ever I saw one. The Remarkables on the left rising steeply from the lakes below, their treeless flanks and the weatherbeaten foreground combine into an 'otherworldly' landscape. Yet the busy tourist town of Queenstown lies just below, hidden by the pine trees.
