One of the many things I love about the Pilbara and Karijini is the way that the red of the rocks shows through a mantle of greens, yellows and, after a bushfire, blacks.

This shot was taken on the first evening of our workshop from memory. You can just see the dirt road on the left in the distance. It's not quite that far away (this is taken with an ultra wide-angle), but we've probably walked around a kilometre up from the road so we're on the flanks of the hillside. It's hard to call it a mountain since it's not that high, but the shapes are wonderful.

From this angle, we were looking directly at the mini cliff face.You can tell I'm no geologist from my description, but I think you can tell what I'm talking about from the photograph! I love that red line, that accent or scar across the landscape. And I love all the fine detail of the spinifex grasses creating a patchwork over the scree slope below.
